Hi.

Welcome. I document life in NYC and my travels beyond the Big Apple. Thanks for joining me!

Gowanus Gardens

Gowanus Gardens

One of the things I love about New York is the endless options of restaurants. Pre-COVID Lou and I loved going out several times a week to try new places. We also had a handful of places that were our go tos. One of them was Gowanus Gardens in Park Slope which is close to Lou’s workplace. This week we were excited to go back for the first time since shutdown this winter.

Gowanus Gardens has a great bar menu which is perfect for either grabbing some appetizers with some drinks or having a larger meal. We opted for the former last night and ordered several sides and small plates to share. Lou tried a newer menu item, the Perniel Buns. I had one of my favorite dishes which is the Hawaiian Musubi — spam and rice wrapped in nori. We also shared an order of fries and fried pickles.

They have a great cocktail menu and some of their fall offerings include a Chocolate Old Fashioned, Coffee Negroni, and a Hot Toddy. They also have an impressive draft beer menu that rotates. Lou had a red lager and I had a blood orange beer from Jack’s Abby.

Indoor dining recently reopened, but Lou and I feel safer continuing to eat outdoors. Gowanus Gardens has outdoor seating in front and a well-spaced back garden. If you are looking for a casual watering hole with some great noshes I highly recommend it.
