Irish breakfast

Irish breakfast

When I was in college I spent a semester abroad in Ireland. Nothing beats an Irish breakfast. There is rashers (bacon), eggs with tomatoes, and my personal favorite bangers (sausage) and mash. I wanted to recreate this meal with a bit of a twist.

  1. Food: I headed to Myers of Keswick which is a Britsh grocery store in the Village. It’s the go-to in the city for UK and Irish imports such as HP sauce and Coleman’s mustard. They have a meat pie and butcher counter so I was able to pick up some proper bangers. For the mash, I kicked things up a notch with Ina Garten’s recipe for mustard mash.

  2. Drink: Breakfast in Ireland is always served with Irish Breakfast tea. There are many brands that carry this variety, but the best is Barry’s.

  3. Music: I served up breakfast with some traditional Irish pub classics. My all-time favorite is the song Galway Girl.
