Hi.

Welcome. I document life in NYC and my travels beyond the Big Apple. Thanks for joining me!

Museums are back in NYC

Museums are back in NYC

Many museums have opened up for a reduced amount of guests. After months of not getting to explore cultural institutions in the city, I’ve had the chance to return to some of my favorite museums again.

  1. Museum of Arts and Design: This is a small museum at Columbus Circle, which you can get through in an hour. Right now there are two visually stunning exhibits. 45 Stories in Jewelry is a collection of unique pieces of jewelry from 1945 through now. Brian Clarke: The Art of Light is a showcase of the artist’s breathtaking glasswork. The museum also has one of my all-time favorite gift stores.

  2. American Museum of Natural History: This is one of Lou and my favorite museums. We saw a couple of the special exhibits. The Nature of Color is surprisingly interactive even though the touch exhibits had to be removed. Most incredible was seeing color-changing beetles that take on the hues of the items they are standing near. T. rex: The Ultimate Predator busts the myths about everything you thought you knew about the dinosaur.

  3. Brooklyn Museum: Manhattan isn’t the only borough with incredible museums. This museum in Crown Heights has an amazing permanent collection, including Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party. On this visit, my friends and I saw Studio 54: Night Magic which was a fun look at fashion and design in the era of disco.
