Hi.

Restaurant wish list: Part 3

Restaurant wish list: Part 3

The past couple of weeks I have shared some of my favorite restaurants that I’m dying to introduce my partner to as things start opening again in NYC. Today I want to share five restaurants that I have not been to yet, but have been at the top of my list of places I want to try. It’s more important than ever to support local restaurants. If dining in even if it’s al fresco makes you uncomfortable then take out and delivery are great alternatives. Here are some restaurants that I’m dying to try and how you can support them.

  1. Cotton Club: I arguably want to go to this classic Harlem spot more for the music and the ambiance than the food. I am curious how they will update the serving options which were typically buffet style. But going to this classic jazz spot is a must for me. The Cotton Club’s website hasn’t been updated since COVID shutdown, but I’m assuming they won’t be opening until in-door dining is back.

  2. Dirt Candy: This vegetarian restaurant on the Lower East Side always had a long wait. My herbivore and omnivore friends who have been there agree that it is worth the wait. They transform vegetables in a unique way and since opening for outdoor dining there menu tends to evolve on a weekly basis. You can order a sampling of all of their main dishes or order sandwiches and salads a la cart from their menu. They are also open for pick up and delivery. You can make reservations for their patio Tuesday-Saturday so you can skip the wait.

  3. Kopitiam: Also located in the Lower East Side is this Malaysian restaurant. They describe their cuisine as Nyonya which is a fusion of Malaysian, Chinese, and European flavors. One of my favorite things about living in New York is trying new things. Kopitiam is open for delivery and takeout at the moment.

  4. Little Prince: If it wasn’t clear from my handle, NYC is my favorite city on Earth. A close second for me is Paris. That’s why this bistro has been on my list of places to try. It always looked so lively when I would pass this small restaurant in SoHo. They are currently serving pickup and I may need to go for a Tuna Tartare fix soon.

  5. Wayan: This restaurant from Cedric Vongerichten has been on my list since it opened last year. Its Balanisian meets classic French cooking. The Sea Bass with pea shoots and a chili vinaigrette is high on my to-try list. Wayan is open for outdoor dining and you can book up to two weeks in advance for this SoHo eatery. They also offer delivery and curbside pickup.
