Wedding Wednesdays
Planning a wedding is fun, but also stressful. Planning a wedding during a pandemic is even more stressful because everything is uncertain. I have a number of friends who were planning on having a large wedding and reception in 2020. Due to COVID safety restrictions, they had to alter their plans to a micro-ceremony or virtual wedding via Zoom. Several of my friends postponed their weddings till later in 2021 and I hope they’ll be able to have the ceremony they wanted.
Lou and I got engaged this summer and were already aware of COVID restrictions. We opted to have our wedding in the Spring of 2022 for a few reasons. We’re hoping by then we’ll be able to celebrate with all the friends and family we’d like to have surrounding us and since we had a number of friends whose weddings were postponed, we wanted to wait for them to have their special days.
I don’t really mind this longer engagement. It gives us the opportunity to plan things out and have a wedding that feels like us. I’ve decided that in 2021 I’d like to use Wednesdays to blog about wedding planning and preparation. Whether you are planning your wedding during a global crisis or not I’m learning a number of tips and tricks that you may find helpful. I’m also hoping to learn from others. Also planning a wedding in NYC is its own beast so I’ll be sharing some Big Apple specific challenges and resources.
Planning a wedding should be a joy and not a chore. I’m excited to share this journey with you.
