Hi.

Welcome. I document life in NYC and my travels beyond the Big Apple. Thanks for joining me!

Fraunces Tavern

Fraunces Tavern

Lou and I found ourselves in the Financial District this weekend so we decided to grab lunch at Fraunces Tavern. The restaurant dates back to the Pre-Revolutionary War days. In fact, George Washington gave his farewell address to his troops here before returning home when the war ended. Today you can enjoy a pint and some seriously delicious comfort food at this historic bar.

We split a jumbo pretzel with beer cheese and mustard. Lou had the pastrami reuben and I enjoyed the short rib pie topped with mash. The menu has lots of wine, spirits, cocktails, and beers to choose from. Lou had the Samuel Fraunces Ale from Flagship Brewing Co. and I had the OBL from Folksbier.

Fraunces Tavern is open for indoor and outdoor dining. If you are looking for a tasty meal with a side of history.
