NYC gift stores for everyone

Finding the right birthday or holiday gift can be challenging. Here are a few of my favorite gift stores in the Big Apple where you’ll be sure to find something for even the most challenging to shop for on your list.

  1. Foodies

    1. Russ & Daughters- This Lower East Side business has been family owned for five generations and has been a staple for New Yorkers who are in search of lox, bagels, and baked goods. If you don’t live in NYC they do ship nationwide.

    2. Meyers of Keswick- Anglophiles will be delighted with anything you pick up from this West Village grocery store, which specializes in British Imports. If you live in NYC you need to check out their butcher counter to stock up on bangers, rashers, and meat pies.

    3. Li-Lac Chocolates- This nearly 100-year company has various stores throughout the city. You’ll find chocolate Santa or dreidel pops which make the perfect topper to any gift. If you are shopping for a chocoholic you can’t go wrong with a box of their truffles. They also ship nationally.

  2. Clothes Horses

    1. Harlem Underground- Some people…like my partner, can never have enough tee shirts. This Central Harlem store has unique and empowering unisex shirts for all ages that you won’t find anywhere else. You can also shop online from their website.

    2. Catbird- I love this Williamsburg jewelry store and their prices for fine and costume jewelry are very reasonable. Whether you are looking for a unique engagement ring or stunning pair of earrings you’ll find what you are looking for there or on their site.

    3. Sohung Designs- This is my favorite local clothing designer. At his store in Chelsea, you’ll find the most unique coats, dresses, and accessories. If you don’t live in NYC you can find a limited number of his items on Etsy.

  3. Caffee Adicts

    1. Gorilla Coffee - This Park Slope coffee house and roaster is one of my favorites. You can buy their strong yet smooth coffee blends by the pound online as well.

    2. Serengeti Teas- I love this Harlem tea and spice shop so much. You’ll find African blends of tea here ranging from bold and spicey to floral and delicate. They also sell salts, spice blends, and honeys and they ship nationally.

    3. Cafe Grumpy- This is another one of my favorite coffee houses in the city. They have multiple locations throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. They ship their coffee as well as mugs and espresso cups with their adorable logo from their site.

  4. The Home Cook

    1. Kitchen Arts & Letters - This Upper East Side books store is dedicated to cookbooks and books about food. You’ll find the latest best sellers and out of print gems on their shelves. They also sell some of their collection online.

    2. Whisk - This Cobble Hill kitchenware store has everything. You’ll find cookware, barware, and novelty items for the home chef who has everything. They also sell online.

    3. Fishes Eddy - You’ll find the most unique plates and serving ware in this Flatiron store. They have something for everyone’s tastes from cute to irreverent. They also sell online.

  5. The Person Who Has Everything

    1. Magpie - This Upper West Side gem is my favorite gift store in the city. They have everything from stationery, home goods, accessories, and items for babies. I always find the perfect gift here. They sell online too if you can’t trek uptown at the moment.

    2. Zitomer - You may wonder why a pharmacy is on my list, but this three-floor Upper East Side shop is so much more than a drug store. They have clothing, toys, accessories, and candies. You’ll find something for everyone here or on their site.

    3. Friends NYC - This Bushwick shop is one of my favorite vintage stores, but it’s so much more than that. They also have new apparel and accessories, an abundance of crystals and other home goods perfect for any new age friend, and a fun assortment of greeting cards. They also ship nationwide.
