Hi.

Welcome. I document life in NYC and my travels beyond the Big Apple. Thanks for joining me!

Indoor dining is shutting down in NYC on Monday due to rising COVID rates in the state. I have only been eating outdoors myself and at restaurants where I feel they are taking proper safety precautions. I was able to meet my sister for a delightful, and surprisingly warm, given that it’s December lunch at Friend of a Farmer.

Friend of a Farmer is just a couple of blocks from Union Square. They specialize in farm to table fare. They have a brunch menu which is served from 9 AM-4 PM and a supper menu from 5 PM-9 PM. Since the brunch menu is served throughout lunchtime you can enjoy breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, or some comfort food such as chicken pot pie. My sister and I opted for breakfast dishes and split the Salmon Benedict and Farmer’s Market Omelet which features cheese, mushrooms, and spinach.

The outdoor seating is made cozy by the addition of overhead heaters, which I much say generate more heat than side heaters do. This was the perfect spot to grab a pre-holiday bite.

The Salmon Benedict was served on a homemade English Muffin with a side of potatoes.
