Winter skincare for sensitive skin

Winter skincare for sensitive skin

If your skin is anything like mine during the winter it dries out. I also have sensitive skin and some mild Rosacea so I’ve spent years finding the right regime and products that work for me. I’m not a dermatologist so you should consult with one if you are going to give any new products a try, but here is my winter facial skincare routine and some of my favorite products.

Any product marked with a 🐰 means it’s cruelty-free/ they don’t participate in animal testing and any product with a 🥕 uses vegan ingredients. For more resources on finding vegan and cruelty-free products check out my post from yesterday.

Cleansing: I cleanse my face every morning. One of the best gifts I ever received was a cleansing wand with different modes. It really makes a difference when it comes to cleaning your pores and getting rid of residue from make-up and other sources. I use the PMD Clean 🐰device. I look for gentle hydrating cleansers that won’t dry out my skin. I’m currently loving Era Organics Tea Tree Cleanser 🐰🥕. Other cleansers you may want to try include CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and Burt’s Bees Soap Bark and Camomile Deep Cleanser 🐰.

Serum: If your skin tends to be dry in the winter I recommend skipping the toner in favor of a serum that will help with keeping your face hydrated. I’m in my 30’s so I have gotten to the point where I don’t use a toner at all. If you do use a toner I recommend using one that is alcohol-free to avoid wrinkles. Right now I’m using Way of Will’s Brightening Serum 🐰🥕. Other serums I recommend are Malin+Goetz Recovery Treatment Oil 🐰🥕 and Grace & Stella Say ‘hi’ to hydration 🐰🥕.

Scrub: I don’t get pimples often, but clogged pores and blackheads are something that I do need to treat from time to time. I find using a microdermabrasion scrub a couple of times a week really helps. My all-time favorite is Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Facial Scrub 🐰. Some other nice scrubs are St. Ives Fresh Skin in Apricot and Burt’s Bees Peach and Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub.

Eye Cream: I have deep-set eyes so when I put on make-up under eye concealer is a must, but I also use an eye cream to help reduce puffiness and fine lines. I like Earth Harbor Aqua Aura Reparative Eye Cream 🐰. You can also try Burt’s Bees Skin Nourishment Eye Care 🐰 or L’Oreal Revivalift Eye Cream.

Moisturizer: My skin routine is similar in the morning and evening. The biggest difference is I use a daytime moisturizer either with SPF or I apply some sunscreen during the day and a nighttime moisturizer before bed. The sun can be more damaging to your face in the winter months so don’t skip on applying the SPF if you are leaving the house. When it comes to moisturizers for day I like Drunk Elephant’s Protini 🐰, CeraVe AM with SPF 30, and Fox Natural’s Day Cream 🐰 🥕. For evening I like Derma-E Hydrating Night Cream 🐰🥕, CeraVe PM, and Origins’ Night-A-Mins.
