Easy everyday makeup routine

Easy everyday makeup routine

2020 has certainly changed many of our makeup routines. I certainly go through spurts when I don’t feel like putting in the effort when I know I’m not leaving the house. But, aside from looking less scary on video calls putting on makeup has the effect that making the bed does for me. I know I don’t have to, but boy do I feel better about life when I do.

There are a billion YouTube videos and blog tutorials out there on applying cosmetics. I will never be the person who spends thirty minutes contouring her face, but the one I have found the most helpful if you are going for a natural and fresh look is the glowing skin tutorial on Cupcakes and Cashmere. Like any beauty regime, you need to find what works for your style, skin type, and complexion. What I’ve found works for me is a variation of this tutorial.

Overall Coverage: I mix tinted moisturizer and a laminating cream with a foundation brush and apply all over. I am the palest person I know and it took me years to find the right foundation match. I find full foundation to be too heavy for me so a tinted moisturizer is a good alternative if you need minimal coverage. I use Tarte Amazonian Clay in Ivory 🐰🥕. Blending with an illuminator gives your skin a more luminous look. I like L’Oreal Magic Lumi.

Concealer: If I have any zits or redness I blend in a little concealer to those areas. I like E.L.F.’s Cover Everything Concealer in Light 🐰🥕. If I need it I also use NYX Dark Circle Concealer in Fair 🐰🥕 under my eyes.

Bronzer: I lightly apply bronzer around my forehead, chin, and cheek apples with a brush. I use E.L.F Blush Bronzing Duo in St. Lucia 🐰🥕.

Highlighter: I use a liquid highlighter down the bridge of my nose and blend with a sponge. I use E.L.F. Highlighter and Concealer Wand in Glow Fair 🐰🥕.

Blush: I have mild rosacea so sometimes my cheeks are a bit pink, to begin with. If I am having a flare-up I skip the blush. If I need a little color I’ll opt for a powder or cheek stain and blend it in with a brush. My favorites are the powder blush in the E.L.F. Blush Bronzing Duo St. Lucia 🐰🥕, MILK Lip+Cheek in Werk 🐰🥕, and Besame Apricot Creme Rouge 🐰🥕.

Blending: I blend everything evenly with a blending brush and finishing powder. I use E.L.F. Bare Sheer Tint Finishing Powder in Light/Fair 🐰🥕.

Eyes and Lips: For an everyday look I’m very minimalistic. I finish off by curling my lashes with the Tarte Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler 🐰🥕 and applying either black or black-brown colored mascara to my eyelashes. My favorite mascaras are Viviane Sabo Classic French Cabaret 🐰, Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 🐰🥕, and L’Oreal Voluminous. I apply some pink or rose-colored lipstick to give myself a little more oomph to my natural lip color. I’m currently loving NARS Audacious in Audrey, Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Hawaiian Smolder 🐰, and Wet N Wild Megalast in Don’t Blink Pink🐰🥕.
