Hi.

Welcome. I document life in NYC and my travels beyond the Big Apple. Thanks for joining me!

Chelsea Market

Chelsea Market

Last week highlighted some of the best Food Halls in NYC. Chelsea Market is arguably the most well known food hall in the city. This former factory in the heart of the Meatpacking district is a great stop for sampling all kinds of cuisines or picking up some gourmet groceries for some home cooking. Here are some of my favorite stands and shops:

Buon’Italia: This Italian grocery store carries fresh pasta and imported foods. It’s perfect for picking up ingredients for making a romantic dinner at home. Don’t forget to grab a box of hazelnut chocolates.

Corkbuzz: When I worked in Chelsea this wine bar was in my rotation of great places to grab a drink with coworkers at the end of a long day.

Dickson’s Farmstand Meats: This butcher shop is a great place to grab steaks to cook at home or to enjoy a sandwich or hot dog as you shop the rest of the market.

A hot dog from Dickson’s.

Fat Witch Bakery: Hands down my favorite brownies in the city!

Los Tacos No 1: Some of the best tacos in the city. The carne asada is my personal favorite. However, the “secrets” gems of this popular food stop are Los Mariscos their sister seafood taco stand, and El Donkey their breakfast burrito cart. I dream of these breakfast burritos, they’re that good!

If you manage to hit Chelsea Market in the morning you need to get a breakfast burrito from El Donkey.

Miznon: This restaurant serves up Israeli street food. Try the burger grilled inside fresh pita bread or their smokey grilled cauliflower.

Num Pang: This Cambodian food spot offers tasty salads, sandwiches, and bowels. I personally love the Peppercorn Catfish Salad and the Pork Belly Sandwich.

Pearl River Food Mart Foods: This Asian grocery store is a great place to grab imported staples and snacks. Be sure to grab some bubble tea from Tea and Milk while you are there. You also shouldn’t visit Chelsea Market without visiting their shop upstairs for clothes, kitchenware, and more.

Seed + Mill: If you like sesame this stand was made for you. Their halva makes an excellent gift and their tahini soft serve is refreshing without being too sweet.

Tings: This Caribbean stand is known for their jerk chicken, but my personal favorite is the goat curry.
