Hi.

Welcome. I document life in NYC and my travels beyond the Big Apple. Thanks for joining me!

The Rack Shack

If you wear bras you know how expensive good quality ones are. If you have a cup size that is larger than a D and/or a band size that is larger than a 40 you know that it’s almost impossible to find brassieres that give you the lift and support you need. Bras have been a challenge for me most of my life. I’m currently a 36F/H depending on the manufacturer so chains like Victoria Secrets don’t carry my cup size and cheap bras off the rack don’t keep my boobs upright. My solution is shopping for bras at The Rack Shack.

This shop located in Bushwick was born out of owner Laura Henny’s frustration of not finding stores that carried her bra size. Her store is a magical experience that makes shopping for bras, underwear, hosiery, and lingerie fun. The shop is so welcoming and inclusive of every size and every gender identity. What I really appreciate especially during these COVID times is you can pre-book appointments for bra fittings. The store associates never pressure you into buying anything and are dedicated to finding options that work for you.

I recently went in for a fitting for a bra for my upcoming wedding. We found something that was perfect for my dress and didn’t break the bank. While their merchandise isn’t cheap, for good quality bras the prices aren’t ridiculous. Most of their bras are in the $55-$70 price range. I consider this a bargain compared to experience at other specialty bra shops where I would easily drop $115-$160 on a single brassier.

I do recommend going to the store to get properly fitted and see what brands work for you. Once you know your size in their stock you can order from their website if you aren’t local to NYC. Trust me when I say you won’t want to buy bras anywhere else.
