Hi.

Welcome. I document life in NYC and my travels beyond the Big Apple. Thanks for joining me!

The Ink Pad

The Ink Pad

I’ve been into DIY projects and crafting since I was in high school. I’ve done everything from scrapbooking, embroidery, and decoupage. Anyone who lives in NYC will tell you about the limited space in your living quarters. When I moved here I decided to limit myself to one craft so I would have the room to store all of the supplies for it. I choose my favorite craft which is card making.

When creating cards I primarily use stamping tools. My favorite local store for stamping supplies is The Ink Pad in Chelsea. They have the best collection of rubber stamps that I have come across. Stamps are arranged by occasion categories such as birthday, wedding, holidays, etc. There are also sections with unique stamps that you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere such as their amazing Alice in Wonderland collection and impressive assortment of celebrity stamps. I have a great Audrey Hepburn a la Breakfast at Tiffany’s stamp and one of my all-time favorites finds is a Yul Brynner stamp which I used to make cheeky holiday cards one year.

Aside from stamps, The Ink Pad is my go-to spot for inks, stencils, and papers. Their staff is so knowledgable and they offer classes to learn basic and advanced techniques. Since COVID hit classes are offered via Zoom so you can take advantage even if you don’t live in NYC. You can also purchase from their online shop. If you are in NYC, The Ink Pad is located at 233 W 19th Street. You can follow them on Instagram to see their current store hours and get some inspiration from the beautiful projects they post.
